    You can get the currency symbol with following code:

    Mage::app()->getLocale()->currency(Mage::app()->getStore()->getCurrentCurrencyCode())->getSymbol()

    Also you can get specified symbol as:

    Mage::app()->getLocale()->currency('EUR')->getSymbol()

    I called the price outside magento and

    Mage::app()->getLocale()->currency(Mage::app()->getStore()->getCurrentCurrencyCode())->getSymbol();

    worked perfectly!

    Thanks!
